TSPLOST is a Transportation SPLOST which allocates up to a 1% sales tax and the capital outlays must be used for 'Transportation purposes' only.

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution at their meeting on July 29, 2022 authorizing the levy and collection of TSPLOST funds upon approval by referendum in the November 8, 2022 general election.  The County and Cities have negotiated a division of the TSPLOST revenue to be collected in the event that the majority of votes cast in the general election are in favor of imposing the TSPLOST.  If approved, the TSPLOST collections will begin on April 1, 2023 and continue for a period of 5 years.  The amount of money to be collected by the TSPLOST is estimated to be $420,000,000 over the 5 year period.
